Visitors to the Ponce de Leon Operations Center will be greeted by an eight by thirteen foot (8’X13’) tile mural featuring Ponce de Leon Springs and the flora and fauna of the surrounding area. The sparkling aqua blues, forest greens, hushed grays and twinkling whites of this mural pull the visitor into the area to where it hangs directly behind the reception desk.

Flying Feat & Windy Weather

Flying Feat and Windy Weather are currently showing at the Okaloosa Regional Airport through February 18th, 2008. Flying Feat, a digital photograph, is the product of an afternoon spent in the Harbor at Destin, Florida. Windy Weather is a hand printed black and white photograph. It is one of a series taken at Blue Mountain Beach, Florida.

WINNING RUNS IN THE FAMILY: Elizabeth Orr (right), a graphic artist at The Walton Sun, and her mother Debby have plenty to smile about. On Aug. 24, the pair learned their entries in the 2007 Photography contest for the Arts & Design Society had taken first place in their respective categories. Deborah Orr and Elizabeth Orr were both first place winners in the annual Photography Contest and Exhibit sponsored by the Arts and Design Society of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. ‘Would Eye, Should Eye, Could Eye’ a black and white portrait by Deborah Orr won first place in the Black & White division. Her daughter Elizabeth Orr won first place in the Digital Photo division with her ‘Dyott Street–Lonely Tree in London’ . Linda Kernick’s ‘Abstract Shapes in Every Day Life’ won first place in the Color Photo division. Congratulations to all the winners.

photography and digital arts contest today!

I submitted three black and white photos in the Arts and Design Society’s Annual Photography and Digital Arts exhibition. The exhibition will be held from Aug. 24 through Sep. 22. The opening reception will be held today, Aug. 24th from 6 to 8 p.m. Awards will be given out during this reception.
